January 30th 2027 Making Bonsai With Arboracola (schefflera sp)

This workshop is for the entry level bonsai enthusiast or one who has a little experience under their belt. Students here will learn the care of bonsai, including watering and feeding,  styling techniques, soils and potting. All trees used in this workshop are mature in size. 

Arboracola, schefflera or umbrella trees are great indoor plants that many folks are familiar with. Arboracola's in general have thick trunks that produce arial roots (see photo). Leaves are on the larger size  making them suitable for low light, not to mention they do equally well in high light locations. You'll actually learn how to reduce the leaf size in the workshop They are very forgiving but can drink plenty of water during warm weather, so be prepared to give this tree a drink on a regular basis. 

This is a hands-on class where students are provided with all needed materials (plant, pottery, soil, wire, etc) to create their own tree, which is taken home at the end of the program.

Other topics include choosing tree material, seasonal changes, wiring and post care. 

No walk ins, must register.
