Root-Over-Rock Ficus Bonsai Class - Feburary 5th 2022
One of the distinctive features of ficus is their tendency to grow long roots through the air that thicken when they reach the ground. Their roots will grow over just about anything in their path, from rocks to ancient temples.
In bonsai, these trees do well indoors in a bright window, or even better with supplemental lighting. They are a tree that's commonly used for bonsai - for good reason.
In this workshop, we will be making root-over-rock bonsai with ficus. The cost of this workshop includes a big plant, rock, pot, soil, wire, and the use of our tools (but you're also welcome to bring your own). We'll cover everything you need to know about these trees to be able to grow them as bonsai, from the care to the styling. Then you will be able to get your hands dirty and create a root-over-rock bonsai of your own.
This class will be held in a heated greenhouse. You are welcome to bring your own lunch or their are local restaurants nearby.
